One Piece Toddler Jumper

My brother had given my son a t-shirt from his USCG boat. Unfortunately they only had adult sizes and the small was unlikely to fit for years. So I followed the instructions in the wiki article, except I wanted some legs on mine (which ended up being more difficult for me and my nube skills than I thought).

I used sewn on snaps in between the legs and my son loves it. Mostly because it is from his uncle whom he ADORES!

Recorder or Flute Case

Today my son wanted a case for his recorder.  Mama has a case for her flute and he felt he needed one too!

So I whipped up this.

Another Project

Today I’m starting another project.  My husband likes black, he calls it ‘Tactical’.  I know in the past he has wanted a jacket just like they wear in The Matrix.  He denies this now.  :)

But I think that if I make it, and do my very best he’ll love it.

Maybe he’ll up my sewing budget!!!  hehe!

Joy of Joys!

We’re expecting a baby.  So as soon as I quit the purging side of this pregnancy I can start sewing baby blankets, hats, boppy pillows, etc.

I am particularly interested in the Nursing Pillow.

My Apron

Made from an old sheet. Matching Pocket, lined up to match the pattern while white fabric and some lace make the lower border and the tie string behind the back. Perhaps after the baby, the tie will go around the front?

Stuffed Bender

My son loves Futurama and his favorite character is good old, lovable Bender.  So for his birthday I decided to make him a toddler sized Bender.  Using the picture below I took some tedious measurements.

I then wracked my brain with mathematical computations and numbers and geometry shapes and drew out my rough pattern.

Then on some tracing paper (I used tissue paper, which I have tons of) I began measuring and drawing out my final bender pattern.  Sorry no picture.  And because I used tissue paper, it didn’t really survive the project.

I used a really thick grey polar fleece, so that the finished project would be soft and cuddly.

Somehow, the eyepiece measurements were entirely wrong.  The only surprise here, being my first solo sewing project, is the fact that this was the only real problem I encountered.

The finished product, though not perfect is recognizable, solid, and my son loves it.

Hello!

Hi,

This being my first post, I will say a little about myself.  I am a stay at home mom with a glorious growing family.  I have recently started some projects, learning how to sew, play some musical instruments, and will soon be delving into learning sign language and another foreign language.

I’m going to use this blog to show some of my projects, talk about the work I did on them, with pictures of the finished project.

I may change my mind later, but for now that is all that will really be here.  I love crafts, like beadwork, painting, gardening, sewing, etc.  So the projects will range accordingly.

Enjoy!
